What a darling engagement that happened this week in Britain—and I’m not talking about Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Jon Ireland, 27, won a chance to control what was on the cover of the U.K. Metro newspaper, and used that opportunity to propose to his partner of almost five years, 23-year-old Ben Collins, Pink News is reporting.
The paper was distributed around the country yesterday, for all the readers to see the sweet proposal: “To my darling Ben Daniel Collins. Will you marry me? Lots of love, Jon Mark Ireland.”
Ireland’s boyfriend seemed to be a bit mortified, telling the newspaper that his boyfriend initially texted him “I’m going to kill you!” but gave him a resounding ‘yes’ later that afternoon.
The couple hasn’t set a date yet for their wedding (or civil partnership, as it’s called in the United Kingdom), but say they may tie the knot in May on their fifth anniversary.
What’s the sweetest proposal story you’ve ever heard?
