Gay and lesbians entering into marriage have local civil codeโopen to loose interpretationโto thank. The Quintana Roo region of Mexicoโs civil code only refers to people โinterested in getting married.โ No gender is mentioned.
Gay marriage is already legal in Mexico City, where more than 1,200 gay couples have been married so far. Several couples are contemplating marrying in the Mexican Caribbean region.
The International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association will work with airlines and hotels to bring wedding bliss all the way down Mexicoโs Caribbean coast.
