Rumor had it that Ricky Martin and his boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abella would soon be hearing wedding bells. Earlier today, Perez Hilton reported that the two men were set to marry later this month on Jan. 28 in New York. Not too long afterward, Hilton updated his site that he was sad to report that Martin’s rep had nixed the marriage-plans rumor.
Maybe that’s because he’s planning on marrying Abella, with whom he’s raising his twin sons Matteo and Valentino, in Spain, where he was recently granted citizenship for his artistic talents. Spain began legally recognizing same-sex marriage in 2005. Since then, more than 20,000 gay and lesbian couples have legally wed in the country.
