Lakesha and Nikia married during the coronavirus outbreak on March 20, 2020, in Decatur, Ga., before the CDC shut down even small gatherings. After a three-month engagement and five years together, the marriers had a small, intimate wedding with only themselves and their mothers. The ceremony and reception took place in Decatur Square in Decatur, Ga. For their ceremony, the couple’s mothers waited at the front with their officiant, Equally Wed preferred vendor, The Modern Officiant. For their wedding reception, the couple had to rethink things because of the spread of the coronavirus. “We got married in the middle of COVID-19, so eating inside and small crowds were limited, if at all,” Lakesha says. “We actually had to find a different resturant for the reception: Whitebull. They were so accommodating by letting us set up for pics and video, cake cutting as well.”
