Erin (she/her) and Paige (she/they) eloped with a few of their closest friends because one of the bride’s families didn’t approve of their LGBTQ+ marriage. “We had a small party of nine people of our chosen family join us up Big Cottonwood Canyon for a small handfasting ceremony,” shares Erin, who identifies as a queer cis lesbian, and Paige, who identifies as a nonbinary lesbian, “and then we celebrated after with pizza, cake, drinks, and games!” They each chose bride as their wedding titles for their intimate elopement in Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a handfasting ceremony.
