Fast-forward past the (probably lengthy) time it’s taken to plan your wedding. It’s time to focus on the rehearsal dinner. This is the moment where you’re with the tight-knit community who have supported you along the trials and tribulations of your relationship, and have stuck like the peanut butter to your two slices of Wonder Bread. The jelly? The components in between: the trust, the effort, the sex life, the sticky yet sweet sides of romance that got you here. You could be arguing with me right this second and saying, “I’m diabetic,” “I hate jelly,” “I’m more of a chutney person (snob) myself,” but regardless of your preference, you’re here, you’re queer, and you’re about to take the altar tomorrow. Whether you’re turning the living room of your loft space into a diner’s delight or stepping foot inside your favorite restaurant down the corner, you’re now seen as a couple who entertains. Welcoming the likes of 10 to 50 isn’t easy, so looking the part is just half of the battle when it comes to throwing a party.
