Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion said “I do” to his beau Rubem Robierb this afternoon in Champion’s apartment in New York City.
Surrounded by friends and family, New York State Supreme Court Justice George J. Silver conducted the short and sweet, intimate 10-minute ceremony, during which Robin Roberts read a beautiful poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
This morning on Good Morning America (yes, he worked even on his wedding day!), co-workers wished Champion well. Asked if he were nervous, the groom joked, “The whole family’s at the house right now … so I should be nervous.”
Wanting to first and foremost have a legally recognized ceremony, the newlyweds plan to have a larger wedding party take place in Miami on New Year’s Eve. “We met on New Year’s and he proposed on New Year’s Eve, so we thought let’s get married on New Year’s Eve,” said Champion.
“That’s going to be the big party,” he said. “This is the legal moment that we wanted to celebrate with friends and family and loved ones.”
We wish the couple a lifetime of love and happiness!
