Bridgette and Hedley were set up by their mutual friends, who tried for over four years to get the couple together. According to Bridgette, within two hours of meeting, she knew she had found her “person.”
Hedley picked Bridgette up from the airport after she traveled to Mexico, and they passed the small boarding school where Bridgette grew up. When they got to the sugar house on campus, the door was unlocked. The room was filled with spring flowers. Bridgette turned around to say something to Hedley and she was down on one knee. Bridgette decided on a quiet proposal to Hedley and brightened one morning by bringing her coffee and flowers in bed, where she hid the ring—starting their daily tradition of Bridgette bringing Hedley coffee in bed.
The flowers were all from friends’ gardens and the farm where I worked. They were a true rainbow and had a wild summer garden feel. I love love love flowers and loved that each person brought ones that reflected them and their gardens. The one floral piece that came from a designer was my flower crown, which was a surprise gift from a friend. —Bridgette Stone
As we walked to each other our guests lined the aisle, each person handed us a flower and that is how we built our bouquets. They were massive! We met at the center of everyone. It was a beautiful way to include all of the people that were there. Our parents read different poems, and even a quote from “30 Rock.” Our officiants surprised us with a song from The Zombies, “Friends of Mine,” with the lyrics, “So nice to know two people so in love.” They belted it out as a start to the ceremony. —Bridgette Stone
