Marriage equality has passed in Northern Ireland. As Equally Wed reported in July, the Northern Ireland Assembly had to regroup by October 21, 2019, in order to revoke UK parliament’s vote to legalize same-sex marriage and abortion. Because they failed to do so, abortion and same-sex marriage have now both become legal, marking a historic shift for this traditionally conservative territory. Marriage equality will be available to same-sex couples beginning February 2020.
