Sally Gallis of Events By Design decided to put together LGBTQ+ elopement inspiration after seeing a moving wedding picture of two men who had just gotten married. One of them was wearing a long veil attached to his suit jacket.
She says, “It made me question the wedding industry. It made me consider the choices that couples have if they aren’t straight but want a wedding which is unique to them without the cliché or stereotype. I questioned why I hadn’t seen anything like this before, I mean, it can’t be the first time a groom has worn a veil, can it?”
As a wedding planner, Sally believes everyone’s wedding experience should be tailored to them, not picked from a shelf in the wedding supermarket. This styled shoot was all about creating a festival vibe in the woods. It features a real couple, Steven and Arron, and takes the approach of adding feminine aspects to traditionally masculine wedding roles. Afterward, Steven and Arron said things like, “I never knew we could have a wedding like that,” “I got emotional because it all felt so real,” and “Now I know what I want my wedding to be like.”
