Rustic and country chic have taken over the wedding theme throne for 2012 (though we’ll always have a soft spot for the long-reigning vintage-inspired affairs) and couples are bringing natural elements into their wedding day decor set in barn and vineyard locations. What we love most about this theme is that it’s extremely DIY-friendly. We are smitten with this rustic wedding cake stand project created out of real wood pieces found on Once Wed.

Sure to add instant charm to your dessert table, it’s extremely easy to make (provided you have access to lumber). All you need is a cross-cut wood plaque usually found at your local craft store (or you can order one here), a cross section of a tree limb, extra strong wood glue and a large wood clamp (heavy book work, too).
