Seattle-based rapper Macklemore and Mary Lambert wowed with their performance Same Love, a marriage equality anthem, at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, where they received the award for Best Video with a Social Message. The concert took on an especially glorious moment when Jennifer Hudson appeared and sang the hook with Lambert, a 24-year-old out-and-proud lesbian:
And I can’t change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can’t change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm
Fun fact: Mary Lambert wrote an adorable blog post about her experience shooting the video for Same Love. Read it here.
