With same-sex marriage just passed in New York, gay men and women can officially start legally marrying 30 days from the signing. For those of you who have been in committed, loving partnerships for many years, there’s no shame in tying the knot right away. As evidenced by the growing number of examples in major media outlets of couples planning to do just that, there may just be a lot of us wondering, “How do I get a nice tux, fast?”
Luckily, chains like Men’s Warehouse can alter a tux and have it ready for you in just a number of days. While it’s often best to take your time and browse through the trends, a limited time scope lends itself well to keeping it simple. You can’t go wrong with a classic black Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren. Just remember: no pleats. Ever.
Renting is also a quick (and affordable) option. Most tux rental outlets (like the ones in your mall) need even less time to pull something together—they’re used to high school prom dates.
Of course, don’t be afraid to go at it with the suit in the back of your closet. If you’ve been waiting 20 years, I’m all for not wasting another minute.
