You’re getting married! Congratulations! I’m a queer wedding photographer based on Cape Cod and I would be thrilled to work with you! I have two decades of award-winning experience as a professional photojournalist and I have been in business as Salty Broad Studios for 7 years! As part of the LGBT community, I understand how exciting and comforting it is to work with vendors who are “family.” Not only will you be supporting a business certified by the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, but you will feel at ease knowing that you are working with an experienced professional that will deliver the beautiful, timeless pictures and personalized customer service.
With Salty Broad Studios you will get creative, moment-driven pictures that tell your wedding day story. Leading up to the wedding, I provide outstanding communication. I answer emails, texts and phone calls as soon as I receive them and collaborate with you to craft a super-organized day-of timeline. On your wedding day, you will receive friendly, down-to-earth service. I strongly believe that your photo session should be fun and relaxed! You should be laughing and enjoying the day! After the wedding, you will receive a sneak peek right away so you can share your joy with your friends and family and your complete final edit will be delivered within 30 days.
So, let’s chat! I love hearing about how my couples met! My wife and I met at Girls Pint Out, a ladies beer club, and had our first kiss on Cinco de Mayo, which is now our wedding anniversary. (yes, we had a Cinco de Mayo-themed wedding).
FAQs
How long have you been shooting weddings?
I have been working as a photojournalist since 2005 and I started shooting weddings in 2007.
How would you describe your style?
As a photojournalist, my emphasis is on capturing candid moments and making you feel comfortable. My goal is to capture pictures that reflect who you are as a couple. As part of my photojournalistic approach, I also believe that portraits and family formals should be an integral part of your collection. I urge my clients to set aside time on their wedding day for family formals and a private portrait session after the ceremony. Ultimately, how you spend your time on your wedding day is entirely up to you but investing in quality photography will provide lasting, tangible memories for your entire lives.
How many photos will I receive? How do you edit your photos? What’s the turnaround?
Generally, most couples receive over 600 edited images from their wedding day but it depends on how many hours you book. I pledge to digitally deliver those images to you 1 month after your wedding date. With your permission, I often post a sneak peek gallery on the Salty Broad Instagram page. I edit the best photos and weed out redundancies. You deserve to have only the best! I also believe in clean post-production practices. I am not going to disguise your natural beauty with trendy filters.
Do you ever use an assistant or second shooter?
I usually work alone, but it depends on the wedding. If there are many locations and hundreds of guests, I will likely bring on a second shooter.
Do you cover weddings off-Cape Cod?
Yes, I book weddings any where in New England and beyond. If travel beyond a 60-mile radius is necessary, a travel fee will be assessed. If your wedding requires an overnight stay, the cost of the accommodations will be added to the package price.
Planning a destination wedding? Count me in! I love to travel will and would be happy to accompany you on the adventure.
What if it rains?
I am prepared for anything and everything. I always travel with a portable strobe kit and several flash units. If the weather brings us indoors, I have plenty of lighting devices to make you and your guests look great.
What kind of cameras do you use?
I use professional level Nikon camera equipment with a wide variety of lenses and lighting.

Christine was an absolute pleasure to work with. She captured all of the moments we wanted and beyond. She was so kind and helpful in our planning meetings and plenty of our guests commented on how great she was during the reception. She got us our photos very quickly after the wedding and we couldn’t be happier. Can’t recommend her enough. – Bryan D.

We highly recommend Salty Broad Studios as your wedding photographer. Christine was extremely professional, punctual and incredible with time management. We only hired Salty Broad Studios for four hours, but she captured a lot in that amount of time. She took pictures of us getting ready, the ceremony, family pictures after the ceremony, and the beginning of the party. She asked us to send her a list of the pictures we wanted and with whom. We had so many requests that we thought for sure she would not be able fit them all in the hour we had set aside for them. Surprisingly, she managed to do all the ones in our list and then some, and we were done five minutes before schedule so we could go down and join the party. Christine is warm, kind and responsive. The photos beautifully captured our special day. -Gwendolyn & Yaitza

Christine is the absolute best! As a lesbian couple it was incredibly important to my wife and I that we found a photographer who we felt comfortable having our photos taken by. It was equally as important to us that our photos truly did reflect us both and our love for one another. Christine did so much more than that and was the perfect blend of a professional in her field and a friend through our entire process. Christine isn’t your typical wedding photographer but a true journalist and artist – telling the story of your love along the way. The work she created has moved us to tears on numerous occasions and we feel truly blessed to have been the subjects of her work. The compliments on her photos are still pouring in to this day. When you hire Christine, you are in the best of hands. Her knowledge and support through your entire wedding planning process (not just about her photography) is so helpful and informative. I am confident that after working with Salty Broad Studios for our engagement session and wedding photographs that we will be working with Christine for the rest of our lives. Christine was one of the best decisions we could have made when planning our engagement and wedding photos and I am positive anyone else would say the same! – Brittni & Ally

My wife and I chose Salty Broad Studios as our wedding photographer and we truly could not have been happier with our choice! It was important to us to choose local vendors who also identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. We were so happy to find Christine! She “got us” as a couple right away and made us feel so comfortable in her presence and in front of the lens! She also was extremely flexible – our wedding was in 2020 and despite having to change our plans multiple times to be in compliance with COVID-19 regulations, Christine was always on board. In the end, we moved our wedding from Provincetown as originally planned, to our home in the Boston area. Christine was completely willing to accommodate. She made the journey to our home on our wedding day where she photographed me getting ready with my bridal party at our house, our “first look” at a neighbor’s house, and our outdoor ceremony. She captured the beauty of the day so brilliantly that we truly forgot what we had originally planned! She made our “plan C” seem like what we had envisioned all along. We are so grateful to her for capturing our love in her photographs and for being so wonderful to work with and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

Christine Hochkeppel rocks! We were drawn to her the moment we met! She is such a friendly, welcoming, warm person with great positive energy, humor and a clear passion for photography. She took the time to get to know us before the wedding so that we were comfortable with her and confident that she was the best person to capture the spirit of our special day.
Christine somehow managed to be invisible and fully present to capture all the special intimate moments of the day. She was as great at guiding my family of 16 group shot as she was with our 1 1/2 year old grandson, my 92 year old mom and even nailed a shot of my wife and I with our 3 dogs in a field!
The Salty Broad consistently provided great communication, beautiful touching photographs and great advice. Christine is the best!

When we were working with our planner it was important for us to find a photographer we would be comfortable with. To say we are not too big into photos would be an understatement. Christine from the start was easy to work with and her humor, kindness, and easy-going nature put us at ease. It was important to us to find LGBTQIA+ vendors as we’ve found out there are many that are not terribly accepting still in this day and age.
We appreciated her style and honestly did not even notice her during the event. We were so happy with rhe results and cannot thank Christine enough!
You will not be disappointed!
