The cocktail hour that follows the wedding ceremony is a very important time. It’s often the first time guests have eaten in hours, especially the marriers. Whether you are staying to mingle with guests or you are heading off to take pictures, the cocktail hour is a great way to feed and entertain guests until it is time for the official reception to begin. If an open bar is on the agenda, cocktail hour is a chance for guests to fill their stomach with hors d’oeuvres and avoid drinking on an empty stomach. Not sure what to serve? Try a few (or several) of these yummy ideas.
- Spring rolls
- Fruit skewers
- Pigs in a blanket
- Samosas
- Hummus and veggie cups
- Soup shooters
- Grilled scallops wrapped in bacon
- Stuffed mushroom caps
- Shrimp cocktail
- Radish pancakes
- Sesame encrusted crab cakes
- Pierogies
- Sliders
- Candied bacon
- Bruschetta
- Tuna tartare
- Open faced mini sandwiches
- Fried macaroni and cheese
- French fries
- Pesto crostini
- Spiced nuts
- Prosciutto and cheese wrapped arugula
- Lettuce tacos
- Wine and cheese
- Pear and brie pockets
If passable appetizers or a mixed variety to sample are not where your food interests lie, offer a themed food bar for guests to build their own appetizers.
