This shoot came out of a mutual love from the vendors for the 1954 musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” which is the story of Adam Pontipee and his six brothers, all self-sufficient backwoodsmen who live in the mountains. We took bits directly from the film, such as the chalkboard quotes, as well as general inspiration from things like the color palette, flower choices, and overall feeling for the shoot.
Gabby and Leah, our couple for the day, were excellent and such a fun choice. They’re a real-life couple who will be eloping soon and are using these images as their wedding photos! They even brought their fur babies Dottie, the piglet, and Mini Me, the dachshund, in our little tribute to farm life. The venue, the Ruins at Kellum Valley Farm, was chosen for a number of reasons. Not only is it just an AMAZING place to shoot, but it also is a venue built out of the ruins of an old schoolhouse and is part of a working farm in the mountains! —Raven Shutley, YouAreRaven
