The vibe of India and Isis’s wedding was very artistic and cultural. Their wedding took place at the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago, Illinois, a historic bank that was ethically developed into a beautiful art gallery. In the space, there is a permanent collection and archive of Ebony and Jet magazines from Johnson Publishing Company. India and Isis are both artists, so they designed their own wedding invitations and programs. The two walked out after their vows to “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers.
“The DJ was our good friend Sean Owens. He created a global and international playlist for our cocktail hour outside the Arts Bank vault where we served two signature drinks, India–blackberries with whiskey and lemonade, and the Isis–strawberry mojito. Dinner (Memphis-style BBQ) was set to a jazz playlist. The reception performers were Ayodele Dance & Drum. Sean then spun a full set for the evening that ran the gambit of music styles and genres, mostly classics of R&B, funk, soul, 90s and early 2000s hip-hop and pop.” —from India, one half of the couple
